About Made in Layers
A small Illinois-based studio printing every order to spec, one layer at a time. No mass production, no warehouses — just careful 3D printing done by people who love the craft.
Made in Layers started with a single 3D printer and the simple idea that everyday objects can be made better when they're made on purpose, in small batches, for one person at a time. We design and print every item from our studio in Illinois. Most of our products are made-to-order — you place the order, we print it, we ship it. That means longer lead times than a warehouse retailer, but it also means no overproduction, no landfill of unsold stock, and every item leaves our hands with a quick personal QC pass. We print primarily in PLA and PETG using FDM (fused-deposition) printers at 0.20 mm layer height. For finer detail work, we use a resin printer. Every part is inspected before it ships and we ship via USPS or UPS using rates calculated at checkout.
